Field Trip: Little Talbot Island State Park (Jacksonville)

Join us for an opportunity to “bird” off some of that Tom-turkey from Thanksgiving. We’ll meet at the far south parking area to look for shorebirds on the beach. We can expect to see and study the peeps: plovers, sandpipers, turnstones, sanderlings and who knows what else! There may be some Red Knots or Piping Plovers with bands on their legs.
We’ll then move to the north beach boardwalk at the first parking area we passed after going through the gate. We will set the scopes up for a “sea watch,” and look for mergansers, gannets, terns, gulls, and maybe jaegers. See you then!
Bring binoculars, a scope if you have one, drinks, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, sturdy walking shoes, and a hat if desired.
Meet in the far south parking area, the last parking lot at the end past the entrance gate. Fee: $5 per vehicle.
