Field Trip: Westside Industrial Park (Jacksonville)

One wouldn’t expect that the largest industrial park in Northeast Florida would be a good place for birding. Westside Industrial Park is an exception with its many ponds. Just missing one of the top ten hot spots on ebird, coming in at number eleven, 165 species have been recorded at the industrial park. Weekends are the best time to visit when the volume of truck traffic is minimal.
We will meet in the parking lot at the northwest corner of Bulls Bay Highway and Pritchard Road. From there, we will carpool to keep the number of vehicles at a minimum. We’ll explore the various ponds and surroundings. Bring insect repellant, water, and waterproof shoes if we’ve had recent rain.
Location: 4102 Bulls Bay Highway, Jacksonville. No fee.
