SAVE THE DATE: Nature Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival


Citrus, Hernando and Pasco Counties will be hosting the 2nd annual Nature Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival between March 20 and 23, 2014. Join the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Citrus, Hernando and Pasco Tourism Development Councils, Audubon Florida, Visit Florida, and Opticron USA for four days of fantastic birding and wildlife viewing opportunities.

Bird species highlighted by the festival include Florida Scrub-Jay, Red-cockaded Woodpecker, Florida Burrowing Owl, Florida Sandhill Crane, Black Rail, Bald Eagle, Bachman’s Sparrow, Limpkin, Wood Stork, Anhinga, Black-bellied Whistling-Duck, Swallow-tailed Kite, Seaside Sparrow, Clapper Rail, Roseate Spoonbill, Reddish Egret, Black Skimmer, Short-tailed Hawk, Southeastern American Kestrel, Budgerigar, Nanday Parakeet and much, much more.

It isn’t just birds that will be on show at the festival, there will be American Alligators, Fox Squirrels, Gopher Tortoises, Brazilian Free-tailed Bats and Manatees. The Nature Coast is also a haven for many species of butterfly, moth, dragonfly, and native plants.
