Description:
This site is an oasis for migrant songbirds in urban Miami. Bypass the recreational fields/swimming pool and head to the nature center and woods on the park’s north side. A paved path and wheelchair-accessible canopy platform wind through oak hammock, providing good views of songbirds like Black-throated Blue Warblers and American Redstarts in spring/fall. The nature center is open 9 to 5, closed Mon.-Tues.
Directions: From intersection of Palmetto Expressway and Bird Rd. (SW 40th St.) in West Miami, drive 0.5 mi. east on Bird Rd. and turn left (N) onto SW 72nd Ave. The park entrance is 0.2 mi. on the right (E).
