Bunche Beach Shorebirds Field Trip (Fort Myers)

This protected beach offers some of the best shorebirding in Lee Co. Walk a mile in either direction scanning the mangroves as well as the sand. Plovers abound – Wilson’s, Piping, Black-bellied and Semipalmated – and waders at low tide include Roseate Spoonbills, Reddish Egrets and White Ibises. Hernando Audubon Birding Trip to Croom Tract of Withlacoochee State Forest

Find Red-cockaded Woodpecker, Bachman’s Sparrow, and other resident forest birds and look for early spring migrants. At 6:45 a.m. meet on the south side of Croom Road (CR-480) at the horse corral at the intersection with Forest Road 7. This is 7 miles east of US-41. Fortymile Bend Bird Walk (Ochopee)

Brian Rapoza will lead this walk on the Fortymile Bend (L-28 Canal) trail along the eastern edge of Big Cypress National Preserve.
