Cypress Creek Natural Area

Black-bellied whistling-ducks by Ann Mathews

Spanning over 2,000 acres north and south of Indiantown Road in Jupiter Farms, Florida, this site is home to 217 animal species and over 500 plant species. Successful wetland restoration activities and frequent prescribed fire have created excellent habitat attracting over 110 bird species. Florida Sandhill Cranes, Swallow-tailed Kites, and multiple kinds of herons have all been documented nesting on the site. Miles of trails offer a glimpse into a variety of habitats including flatwoods, hydric hammock, wet prairie, depression marsh, dome swamp and blackwater stream. The southern portion of the site offers improved multiuse trails with connectivity to nearby Riverbend Park. Numerous species of waterfowl can be seen congregating at the large lake south of Indiantown Road. Cypress Creek North hosts more remote sections of trail where various raptor species can be seen. Visitors can hike, paddle, cycle or horseback ride on designated trails while enjoying this beautiful natural area.
